Stroke victims get a helping hand, from a robot

Researchers at the University of California, Irvine, are using robot hands to rehabilitate stroke victims and help them regain movement in their arms and hands. The technique involves strapping a patient's hand to a robot hand, which then measures how well the patient can do certain movements and helps them along when needed. At the end of 3 weeks of treatment, all 13 people tested had improved their ability to grasp and release objects.
The therapy is still in the beginning stages, and unfortunately it won't be able to help all stroke victims depending on their level of motor movement loss. And also, just because a person can grasp and release better doesn't necessarily mean they can do all the things they used to do everyday. But it's definitely a start.
