Mad Cow disease re-emerges in Canada
Categories: Diet & Weight Loss, Nutrition & Supplements
There are some folks I know that were so scared in recent years of the mad cow disease that they stopped eating beef completely. Well, that fears never goes away I guess, as Canada has confirmed its ninth case of mad cow disease since 2003.Although that is a relatively low number, the latest victim in Canada died on a farm last week -- and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency said that a bull tested positive for bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE, or mad cow disease).
Although mad cow disease is not a huge issue in the grand scheme of things (insofar as disease), the consumption of meat products contaminated with BSE has been linked to more than 150 human deaths -- but mostly in Britain.
