Scottish pub attendance rises, even with smoking ban
With smoking bans going into place all over Europe now -- mirroring the efforts of us old Yanks -- attendance in some Scottish pubs has actually risen since the public smoking bans has taken place in that country. Is that a surprise?Perhaps patrons stayed away from smoky bars and pubs for fear of smelling and feeling like a wet, limp cigarette at home and at work. I know when I've gone out to places that allowed smoking, I come home smelling disgusting. I have to wash all those clothes and take a shower just to get rid of the stench.
Maybe pubs and other places of entertainment in Scotland and in other European countries will see improved attendance when banning smoking is put into full effect -- if it ever is.

It is so funny that the cigarette ban actually delivered more people to the bars. And you are right: Now that I'm sure I will not smeel the smoke, I can go to my local pub with a smile on my face.
I hope people realize how destructive smoking is. I prefer to excercise, because sports are the best thing in the world.
By the way, you can see my sports passion here:

This isn’t strictly true; some gastro pubs figures are up but, on average Scottish pubs are down 14%.
On a lighter note sales of British nasal snuff have gone through the roof, with one Scottish pub selling £300 ($580) worth of Toque snuff per month.
