For real? The Beer Drinker's Diet
Categories: Diet & Weight Loss, Reviews & Products
As a lover of beer and also as someone who knows a fair bit about calorie counts and nutrition, I thought a diet that involved beer was too good to be true. Maybe not -- one man, Bradley Scott Cailor, has written a book called The Beer Drinkers Diet. But if you read a bit into it, the title of the book is not trying to tell you that you can guzzle Budweiser without abandon -- rather, the title attempts to reflect that this is a normal person's diet, one that doesn't involve any major deprivation. So correct me if I'm wrong but the word BEER in the title is more of a gimmick to attract attention to the book.
The author lost 114 lbs and has managed to keep it off, so he may know what he's talking about. Although I was skeptical at first (the poorly designed red and yellow website usually indicates some sort of scam to me), apparently the book advises readers to be wary of quick-fix gimmicks and find a weight-loss solution that is both healthy and suitable for their lifestyle.
Have you read the book? What did you think?

I think author of this book doesn't have any experience with women's diet. My girlfriend enjoy bear, but she's afraid of her weight. I can understand her: drinking bear I earn several pounds and it's just for 1 month!

I have had some experience with drinking beer and losing weight. Although I havent read the book in personal experience/trials I have lost weight by drinking a pint of beer for lunch. The drink seems to get rid of the hunger and for the relative number of calories it seemed a good alternative to lunch. Through my own trial I lost 20lbs in a matter of months, I did however continue to do a small amount of sit-ups (60-100 per day) and walked about a mile or so. I think it could work but then again if your a binge drinker its totally useless. Just my 2 cents.

I must say I drink beer everyday, and i still maintainthe same weight even if i drink more on the week end vs durning the week. I think it's all a matter of how much you excerise.

Did anyone manage to read the story?
The article isn't saying drink a beer every day and you'll lose 114 pounds, people. It's saying that the book title's basically saying the average person (hence, "beer drinker's" since the average person can't afford champagne and caviar [sp?]) should take an average *diet* which works for them, and gives advice about avoiding "quick-fix gimmicks" and "not eating until you've lost weight."
Jees, people. Hermione says it best in an HP movie: "Honestly. Don't you *READ* ?"

Any food or beverage needs to be in context with a complete diet. Any excess will hurt. Any normal consumption is acceptable. This includes all phases of a person's daily intake, not just beer. Germans laughingly call beer a daily intake of liquid bread.

As a beer drinker for many years, I must say that I have tried all kinds.. Bud light and nothing else for lunch has been a a favorite. I have also had Bud light for breakfast, lunch and dinner.. and no food...what I have found that.. although I am not extremely overweight.. the excess I do have tends to go straight to my tummy.. Sit ups and taking a walk are out of the questions, as I feel lethargic.. perhaps if I NEVER drank in the first place I would get much more done than sitting here w/ a beer replying to these blogs.. but, oh well...

The "tummy weight" could just be the result of a swollen liver.....

Debbie has a great-sounding diet plan-yummy!!! I haven't read this book and probably won't. Fact is...if you want to lose weight you are going to have to exercise (I know, I know...I can hear the screams!). There really is no other way. And once you lose that weight, guess what you have to do to keep it off??? That's right.....exercise!!!!

Beer never made me fat! Beer always made me lean. Lean against bars, lean against walls, lean against cars..

Putting the words "beer" and "diet" together obviously strikes a chord in people. It is so grasping that it has its audience commenting and praising, giving personal experience before having even read the point of the article.

I'll tell you,I useto drink a good amount of beer, My weight was 200lbs. Now that I don't go out, I drink more water and I tend to eat more food....I replaced the beer with food...my weight now is 236lbs. I just started to drink one beer before dinner and I eat less because it would fill me up more then drinking water before dinner. Why??? I don't know.... but I lost 10lbs in two weeks doing this.

Yes you can diet and die on a beer diet. My grandpa lived on beer at every meal, he didn't need food because of all the b-vitamins in hops. He eventually died of sirrohsis of the liver, but he was skinny!

In reading these posts, it's obvious that the majority of you guys were drinking while typing.... which should be a felony!!! Put down the beer before you type... it only makes you look like the idiot
