When you think having of pulp in your fruit juice, you probably think about orange juice. But apple juice contains pulp too, and the amount of pulp in your apple juice makes a huge difference in its heart-healthy nutritional value. When apple juice is cloudy that means it still contains plenty of polyphenols, which are powerful antioxidants that help your body fight cancer and heart disease. In the process of creating clear apple juice, most polyphenols are lost.
But most consumers choose a clear apple juice because they think it's more "pure," and most retailers prefer to carry the clear variety because it has a longer shelf life. That means most of us are completely missing out on the health benefits of something we're buying and drinking anyway - what a waste!
