Podfitness: The new fitness trend signs up new fit celebrities
Okay, so I'm not really up on technology, but I've recently heard about this thing called Podfitness, which apparently is a customized audio fitness training service. Podfitness employs 'celebrities' as their 'personal trainers' and they've just signed a few more: Danny Bonaduce (from the Partridge Family and Breaking Bonaduce), Kathy Kaehler (Fitness expert on the Today Show) and Jay Cutler (Mr. Olympia.) I'll admit I've never heard of the latter two and am not a fan of Mr. Bonaduce so this isn't really incentive for me to sign up. What about you? Do you use Podfitness, or any sort of podcasts in your workout? How are they?

I use some of the Nike treadmill workouts from iTunes. Podfitness is ok, but you cannot use any music purchased from iTunes when you mix your workouts. Makes it pointless for me as 99% of the music I buy now is from iTunes.

Why can't it be used with music purchased from iTunes. I was looking into signing up for Podfitness. I like the concept. Can the iTunes music not be used because it's in the wrong format? Can iTunes purchased music be converted if the format is the problem?

I has to do with DRM (Digital Rights Managments), any music that you upload from your own CD's works great. Here's the official line from podfitness:
"Question: Can I use music purchased from digital download stores like iTunes Music Store®?
Answer: Most digital music stores use Digital Right Management (DRM) to prevent sharing and unauthorized copying of music between users. The DRM employed by music stores like iTunes, Napster and Rhapsody do prevent Podfitness from mixing these “protected” songs with your trainers workout. Only unprotected music formats like MP3 and AAC can be used with the Podfitness application. "

I download free workouts from www.fitsync.com onto my phone. They have workouts submitted by pros and other members. I can watch videos if I'm not sure of the movement. I like to be able to log my workouts so I can track my progress. And they're much cheaper!

I have checked out PodFitness and I'm not so sure. It doesn't work on macs and itunes music doesn't work?? Why do they call it PODfitness???
My fav is pumpone.com. They have picture workouts and you just listen to any music that you have on your ipod - its real simple. Its better to see the piture than to have some try and tell you how your elbow moves.
I have been checking this stuff out for my traineo group. Its a free social network for people getting in shape. I started a group for "ipod fitness tech" and I'd love to hear from you.
Check out pumpone.com and traineo.com if you want.
