Too embarrassed to workout? How to get past it

It seems like gym-goers usually fall into one of two categories: the confident, and the insecure. I know how it is to feel like a fish out of water when it comes to working out, especially in a gym environment. Whether it's using equipment, or worrying about unsightly jiggling body parts, it's easy to let embarrassment get in the way of your fitness goals. This article gives some suggestions on how to get comfortable and get past your shyness, or (if you must) how to avoid the embarrassment altogether but keep on with your workout at home or with a friend until you build up more confidence.
Whatever your particular hang-ups are, just think that very few of us have had the bad luck of the poor woman in the article who was too embarrassed to go back to the gym because she actually fell off a treadmill. That's like my worst "gym embarrassment" fear!
Not to mention it would really hurt.
