Protect your liver with a healthy diet
Yet another reason to eat a diet rich in fresh produce -- Italian researchers this week found a link between eating plenty of fresh fruit and a reduced risk of liver cancer. They also found that adding milk and yogurt to a person's diet could reduce the risk even further. Vegetables were also associated with a decrease in risk, but not to a significant point. This is good news for those with liver diseases, such as hepatitis B and C, because they are already at a greater risk for developing liver cancer.
We've heard it over and over again that poor diet is linked to so many different chronic conditions and diseases, and this study is just one more link in the chain. Filling your plate with fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins is an excellent way to ward off disease.
