How many calories... in a Krispy Kreme donut?

Krispy Creme donuts have gotten a reputation as the nemesis of all things healthy. Personally, I have a weakness for the raspberry-filled variety, and on those rare days when I break down and eat one I always feel guilty the rest of the day and imagine what must be thousands of calories being dispersed into my body as I digest that nasty little donut.

I've avoided knowing the answer to this question for a while now, but it's time I finally knew: How many calories are in one raspberry-filled Krispy Kreme donut?

A) 200
B) 300
C) 450
D) 600
The answer is B) 300 calories.

I know, this is a pretty high number considering how small a Krispy Kreme donut is, but I have to admit that I'm pleasantly surprised. I guess I was braced to hear a much higher number! Still, these donuts are by no means healthy, with 16 grams of fat each.

Other varieties of Krispy Kremes donuts range from 200 to 380 calories each, with 12 to 21 grams of fat and little to no nutritional value. Complete nutritional information on each variety is available for download at the Krispy Kreme homepage.

We still need to steer clear of that Krispy Kreme display, but if you do break down and have one at least you can know what you're dealing with.
