FDA approves new wrinkle treatment

Radiesse is not actually new, having been used since 2002 in facial reconstructive surgeries, but the FDA has now approved it for a couple of new treatments. One is for HIV/AIDS patients who have suffered severe fat loss in their faces as a result of the disease, and the other -- more for the mainstream population -- is that it can now be used cosmetically to improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines. Supposedly Radiesse is longer-lasting than current wrinkle fillers, and has additional properties that stimulate the face to produce more collagen -- which in turn gives the face improved structure and fullness.

Yeah, we'll see! I won't be the first in line.

You reporting is truthful. Your opinion is valid. It is not new and people (mainly women ) have been using it for years. The key is this: it does not last forever. The length of time varies widely. The bottomline is this: filling in a wrinkle does not permanently remove it. I have 11 years of experience running plastic surgery practices.

Angela: Do you know of any allergic reations as a result of the use of this product? I used Oil of Olay thermal Regenerist, and broke out in a horrble rash that could only be cured with medical treatment. Nothing like that had ever happened to me before, not even with other O of O products.
I would love to try Radiesse, but I'm afraid of a breakout. Can you offer any advice?

What ever happened to growing old gracefully? Seeing an older woman who has had cosmetic work done to her face doesn't make her look any younger, just like she had been under the knife. She looks as laughable as the young teens that parade around in heels and lipstick. When will woman ever be happy with their looks and age? When will woman realize that you can't take a pill/shot/surgury to fix the problem of self-loathing? Learn to finally accept yourself and LOVE yourself. Growing old isn't a curse, it is a privilege.

I'm sick and tired of wrinkle treatments. I've never done anything but wash and moisturize, and I don't intend to. Society has got to get over this aging fear - it's natural. Same goes for hair color. I'm letting mine go grey, and it looks just fine!

If only we focused that much time on our actual health, rather than our appearance. Wrinkles are superficial and don't tell you anything about yourself, nor does removing them.
