Pediatricians blast advertising aimed at kids

This is something I feel quite strongly about -- deceptive and junk advertising aimed at kids and teens that promotes at-risk behavior like overeating, anorexia, drug abuse and many other maladies. I don't buy the marketing garb that states most advertising is geared towards "what kids already know". That is ludicrous, but given the greedy nature of companies to push junky products on kids, it's not surprising. In fact, inappropriate advertising contributes to many kids' ills, from obesity to anorexia, to drinking booze and having sex too soon -- according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. Could not have said that better myself.
the policy report stated that "Young people view more than 40,000 ads per year on television alone and increasingly are being exposed to advertising on the Internet, in magazines, and in schools."
