Workplace stress may be linked to diabetes

A new study suggests that people who suffer from job burnout may also be more likely to develop type 2 diabetes. While the study wasn't large enough to produce concrete evidence of a relationship between the two, researchers suggested that work-related stress could be as significant of a factor in becoming ill as things like high body mass index and smoking.

Stress of any kind can affect the body's ability to produce glucose, so the diabetes link should come as no surprise. This news is just further evidence that stress reduction should be an important part of your fitness plan, right up there with a healthy diet and regular exercise.
