Celebrity Fit Club 5 cast announced
Posted on Nov 20th 2006 7:45PM by Martha EdwardsI've never seen this show, so I'm not sure if it would inspire me to lose weight and eat healthier or not. What do you think?
I am amazed that "Screech" has had the opportunity to gain so much weight considering that earlier this year he was out there peddling his profane T-shirts... all for the sake of paying his house payment cuz he was about to get foreclosed on and didn't have any money. Anyone remember his rant website? What a spectacle.
As far as whether the show is inspiring? Well, I'm split on that one. On one hand it would be insomuch as we see that these television icons are simply humans too (but wait, Brittany already did that!). On the other hand, it is not simply for the fact that the media continues to perpetuate the concept that one must be skinny to be beautiful. Perpetuates the idea that we are to be critical of eachother and judge what they should or should not look like, whether or not we know WHY they look the way they do. Perpetuates the idea that a person is less-than if they don't wear the size 2 dress. I'd be comfortable saying that I'm not likely to seek out this show...
I find it very hard to have any sympathy what-so-ever for Maureen McCormick and this is why.....about 25 years ago while I was stationed in Alaska we were hosting the Special Olympics and Maureen McCormick and Eve Plumb were the celebrity guests. A friend of mine and myself asked them if we could snap a picture with them...Eve Plumb was very sweet and smiled as she agreed. My friend then said "I know you guys get tired of this" to which Maureen McCormick replied in a not to friendly tone "NO COMMENT" when we got the picture back Eve Plumb had smiled really nice and Maureen McCormick didnt even try to smile, in fact, it was a look that could turn you to stone. Even in spite of what Maureen had to say Eve Plumb, my friend and I managed to smile ....I guess we were much better actors than snobby ole MARCIA! I hope Maureen reads this because quite frankly, after her display of attitude, we didnt even want to take the picture, we just went on with it because it was such an uncomfortable situation. You would think that a professional actress such as Maureen could have done the same....no chance and "NO COMMENT."
Well, Mr. Diamond apparantly tried to do porn (I am SO not kidding) to make some cash, and when no one wanted to see "Screetch" get busy I suppose he opted to pack on a few pounds and do CFC, last I heard in a comercial for an entertainment show, Marcia Brady suffered from an eating disorder several years ago, so perhaps her contribution to the show will be very worthwhile and sobering, one can only hope. I watch the show all the time, and while I would never call it "Inspiring" it does do a great job of illustrating the effectiveness of the basic fundamentals of healthy weight loss. Eat healthy, and move ALOT more. It also puts into visual perspective what healthy weight loss does for your figure with their nifty body morphing thingie (a very technical term, I know), so it's worth a look if you don't have anything else to watch.
I think the show would be a lot more fun to watch if they inlisted your everyday viewer to join the celebrities to loose weight. How many of us who are trying to loose weight wish for a private training, health counsulants and so forth - but can't afford it. I would be one of the first who would volunteer to join the show to loose weight - the right way - Call me anytime - I want to join - celebrities or not - just good professional help will do.
If Dustin Diamond is involved, maybe it's a celebrity mentally fit club. Hope it helps.
I love Celebrity Fit Club. It shows how hard it is to lose weight, no matter what you have at your disposal...trainers, nutritionists, chefs even...It also makes it obvious that none of us can do this alone. It takes a team of people both professional and supportive loved one. There's more to losing weight than just diet and exercise and these "celebrities" are real people just like you and me. They may have more money but they still struggle with insecurities, denial, eating disorders, etc. I'm sure this cast will be just as interesting as all of the others. Bring it on!
