Campbell's low-sodium soup uses sea salt instead
Categories: Reviews & Products, Nutrition & Supplements
When I think of low-sodium soup, one word comes to mind: bland. True, I cringe when I see the amount of sodium in a can, but at least I enjoy eating it. But maybe the low-sodium is worth a try, because according to this, the low sodium version on Campbell's soups is not devoid of salt, it has healthier sea salt instead. I can handle sea salt. I haven't tried the low-sodium soup, but I think I will now. Have you tried it? What do you think?
FYI: this article points out something important -- the amount of sodium per serving that an item can have and still be considered healthy is 480 mg. Good to know when you're checking labels.

To me, it is still much more useful to know that the FDA
recommends that people consume less than 2,300 milligrams of sodium per day (people with high blood pressure, blacks, and older adults should consume less than 1,500 milligrams of sodium per day).
Just because I eat five "healthy" items a day doesn't mean I am not exceeding recommended salt levels...they are just figuring that 500 milligrams per meal works out OK, or something like that.
