The ten most harmful health gadgets
Categories: Book Reviews, Fitness, Reviews & Products
Pcmag.com just released a list of the ten most harmful health gadgets. One item making the list was this Bicycle Forest Treadmill Bike. It basically lets you pay $2500 to run down the street. Their slogan is "Take your favorite gym workout outside!" Um, I think that's been done before, and they call it jogging. And putting aside the fact that it's nearly pointless (though the manufacturer does point out that this product protects your feet from "dirt and other contaminants commonly found on the earth's surface") it's less than nimble in situations involving traffic, loose gravel, and, well... turning. The list is also full of other devices I'd be too afraid to try, including a head massager that would give me electric chair nightmares, a very scary looking device which claims to enhance your bust, and my personal favorite, a product called Snore Stopper. It looks like a watch but works by giving a person a "gentle electronic acupuncture massage" when they start to snore. So, it's kind of like a shock collar for people that snore?

Hmmm... the only one that really looks dangerous (as well as silly) is the treadmill bike. "It basically lets you pay $2500 to run down the street." LOL!!!! The boob thing is also a hoot. I simply had to email that link to several girlfriends. Gosh, I hope Mom doesn't think that I'm hinting that I want one for my birthday.
Seriously though, I don't get the goof on the light/sound machine. Hey, I own one of those things! And it is very, very relaxing to use. Apparently the author has not tried the device, or doesn't believe in self-hypnosis, a.k.a. meditation.
I wonder if the SnoreStopper's "accupuncture massage" will wake up the snorer. If it doesn't cause waking and yet still stops the snoring, that might be a sleep apnea sufferer's dream!

The Treadmill Bike seems to be presented as a spoof. Other crazy bikes from the Bicycle Forest include the Couchbike http://www.bikeforest.com/cb , the Pimped Out Rhoades Car http://www.bikeforest.com/rhoades_car.php , and the Hulabike http://www.bikeforest.com/hulabike.php
I think those guys are hilarious.

"Harmful????" The treadmill bike and breast enhancer look dangerous for sure, but I don't see the others as "harmful." Stupid, maybe. I've tried the light/sound machine...it is relaxing and I wouldn't mind having one. If the snore stopper works, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Does the author live with someone who snores? Anyone who does will try almost anything to get a good nights sleep.
Harmful implies injury to me...watch the language. I suppose these could be "harmful" to your pocketbook.

The Absorbent Fart Cushion !!!! So no one knows you're doing the deed - wouldn't just having the cushion be a give away ?? lolol too funny. And the Breast Enhancer ! I would not want this anywhere near my body, never mind my boobs - looks like a modern day torture machine - had to have been invented by a guy ... lol

we as lazy americans( yes im american) dont really care how much something really cost ,as long as you have an energetic or loud mouth person (tony little or susan powter for example)on television pitching it.we only want easy results quick despite whether its good for us,we are gullible and nieve and willing to try another that remotely sounds good.i still think that the 2 finger dessert is the best and we always have it with us

THERE REALLY ISNT ANY GADGET OR MAJIC MACHINE THAT CAN GIVE YOU THE BODY AND PHYSICAL CONDITON YOU ARE TRYING TO ACHIEVE. IT IS A COMBONATION OF DESIRE AND COMMITMENT.
SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON A GOOD PROTIEN POWDER
AND MULTI-VITAMIN ,AND YOU WILL SEE A MUCH BETTER RETURN ON YOUR INVESTMENT.

Clearly there are machines out there that promise all sorts of recovery, relief, help or otherwise. What I find amazing is that pcmag.com listed these items according to a reviewer/writer who had not even tired all of them, if any. What rubbish to publish something like this by someone like that. Try the products first, then give us your opinion instead of telling us how scared you are.
The following item/quote "You'll begin to reach a state of self-hypnosis, with the goal of reducing stress or your fears. I don't know, seeing a bright light and hearing pleasant sounds—I’d think I died and gone to heaven! As with another commenter above, I have the device (MindSpa) and it is great. For calming down your brian after a day on the computer to a recharge in the middle of hte day, it is a very cool machine. So, Ms. Dale, be brave and you might get over your fears. pcmag.com - give us some honest reports, not ones based on untried biased opinions.

well, the treadmill bike is really pointless, in my opinion... and if a person doesn't want to get dirty while jogging, by the way, then he should just stay inside the gym...
I think I'll stay away from the head massager... and for the snore stopper... hmmm... maybe I could try it with my brother first to make sure it's not that harmful?... lol
