Wal-Mart's "organic" milk -- is it really?

With Wal-Mart getting heavily into the organic game these days, there are surefire watchdogs that will likely be on the loose. One of the first possible chinks in the Wal-Mart armor comes from a few sources that have investigated the "source" of organic milk now offered at many Wal-Mart stores. Is Wal-Mart practicing "diluted" organic product offerings? Aurora Organic Dairy has been accused of milking its cows too frequently per day along with not having enough green pasture for its cows to graze on in traditional organic fashion. Does this mean that Wal-Mart's private label organic milk -- made by Aurora -- isn't truly "organic?"
Doubtful, although there are probably opinions on this subject on both sides of the fence. As long as Aurora facilities meet the USDA requirement for organic farming, then Aurora -- and hence, Wal-Mart -- should have no problems. For organic purists, on the other hand, Aurora's slight deviation from standard organic farming practices probably move it out of what is considered organic territory.
