Fit Hits: Wednesday, September 13
Posted on Sep 13th 2006 10:27PM by Kristin DarguzasI've always loved to travel internationally. I love the new smells, the distinctive and exotic vibe in the air, the different flavours and colours of diversified cultures. And a side benefit of visiting other countries, at least for me, is the loss of a couple pounds.
In Greece I inhaled fresh tomatoes and sweet onions topped with just enough salty crumbled feta. In Thailand I subsisted on pad thai and green curry. In Portugal I ate fresh fish by the bucketload. And in every instance, I felt good and shed a few pounds (except, perhaps, when I visited a McDonald's in Hungary on a few occasions when their local hearty fare proved too much for me)
So tonight I'd like to profile some of the best cultural food blogs I've discovered on the web ...
At Mahanandi, Indira brings a taste of India through recipes and photo essays in an appealing, colorful format.
At le tartine gorumand, Bea presents gourmet French cooking is at its best. Though I'm still puzzled about all the thin, elegant women in France eating croissants and drinking red wine, I am a sucker for French food and Bea's site is la creme de la creme.
Chez Pim is a delightful new find. Though she doesn't highlight any single country, Pim is described as a "professional eater" who "ships "merrily aroundthe gastronomic world."
"Pim is not a professional cook, but she is a professional eater. Her five-year-old blog, Chez Pim, was started as a way for her to keep in touch with friends as she traveled. Now visitors to this popular, sweetly opinionated site follow her as she skips ''merrily around the gastronomic world,'' eating with and cooking for friends."
Enjoy, may they bring you exotic ideas and better health!
