It's Saturday morning and you're running errands with a friend. You're watching your weight, so while your friend orders a Bavarian Kreme Donut you opt instead for a toasted multigrain bagel with light cream cheese (2 oz.). How many calories are you taking in with this "smarter" choice?

(a) 298 calories
(b) 354 calories
(c) 389 calories
(d) 500 calories

Answer: (d) 500 calories

It's staggering -- and we had to run the numbers a few times to believe it -- but you could have indulged in not only one but TWO Bavarian Kreme Donuts with 80 calories to spare! In fact, each Bavarian Kreme Donut has 210 calories (80 calories from fat) and 9g fat, while the multigrain bagel with 2 oz. light cream cheese packs in 500 combined calories (130 combined calories from fat) and 15g fat. Can you believe it? We kind of hate to say it but next time you and your friend hit DD, go ahead and indulge in the donuts -- as long as it's a rare indulgence. There are obviously worse choices.
