It's actually not that hard being green

Until recently, I truly believed that eco-friendly living was something that Other People did. Let those Other People have their tie-dyed organic clothing, nibble on wheat roast, and swaddle their children in cloth diapers. Not me, baby. Steak? Oh yes, please. Tie-dye? Heavens, no -- that fashion is so decades-ago. And "Huggies or Die," man -- that was my mantra when my baby girl was born.

But then, things slowly began to change. After becoming a parent, I began to wonder how the food I was feeding my daughter might be affecting her health. I started reading articles about global warming, the destruction of rainforests, dependence on petroleum and petroleum products, and what that means for our future. And frankly, I got a little nervous.

However, there's good news: living green is actually a lot easier than you think. There are tons of little things that we can all do in our everyday lives that actually can make a difference -- not just to the planet, but to our own, personal health. And these small moves, small commitments are easy -- no immediate radical life change required. I'm talking about small, tiny steps that are easy to incorporate into your daily life, perhaps inspire you to make even bigger steps, and ultimately, will help make the world a greener place. So here at the That's Fit Blog, my contribution to this wonderful new forum will be not only to occasionally highlight what's new in the eco-blogosphere, but I'll also be bringing you the best tips for living a greener life. I'll tell you about small ways that you can eliminate wastefulness, ways to avoid the whole "paper or plastic" dilemma, as well as introduce you to some amazing eco-couture (like fashionable clothing made of organically-grown bamboo -- bamboo!!).

And I promise, in so doing, I'll never mention tie-dye or wheat roast again.
